Flying high
the spinifex disappeared,
the acacias and casuarinas disappeared,
the hills disappeared.
Roads were lines without beginnings.
At that height
the desert
was reduced to ancient rivers.
Rivers of sand, rocks, red gums,
mighty rivers, intermittent, dry,
uncertain sediments,
ancient alluvial fans,
depressions, salt basins,
ambiguous floods,
precipitous ephemeral rains,
capillary networks of erratic streams....
