There is a palm
contrasting the sandstone precipice
the iron-red of the rocks
ancient seas
weathered by the wind,
rains and time
Two dragonflies
hover over the water
between paperbark branches
delicate aerial machines
reflecting on the quiet waterhole
captured by reeds, spinifex, pandanus
Two dragonflies dream
the heat of the afternoon
a deep blue sky
Two dragonflies
no longer here
just gone
Kakadu NP. July 2023
I acknowledge the traditional owners of the Kakadu national park lands, the Bininj and the Mungguy people and its leaders past and present. Sovereignty has never been ceded. Like millions of Australians I accept the Uluru Statement of the Heart and YES I support the Voice.
