Green Ant Dreaming

Updated: Sep 21, 2024

March.

Skip leaf. March.

Investigate leaf. March.

Go up the branch.

March.

Tree shakes.

Defend the nest.

Jump on foreign body.

Find skin.

Bite. Wait. Bite harder.

Fall on ground. Get up.

Back to tree.

Back to nest.

March.

Walk into tree.

Ants nest hanging.

Green ants everywhere.

Bite. Flick.

Bite. Press.

Bite. Hit.

Bite. Flick.

Bite. Pick and flick.

Last ant running down my arm.

Flick, one finger.

March up the tree.

Other ants….OK.

Find branch.

Go to nest.

March.

Kakadu NP. July 2023

I acknowledge the traditional owners of the Kakadu national park lands, the Bininj and the Mungguy and its leaders past and present. Sovereignty has never been ceded. Like millions of Australians I accept the Uluru Statement of the Heart and YES I support the Voice.

Extiendo también este profundo respeto y reconocimiento de las culturas de otros pueblos originarios en Australia, Latino América y otras partes del mundo.

I’d like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people as the traditional owners and true sovereigns of the land where I live. I like to pay my respects to elders past and present. Sovereignty has not been ceded, treaties have not been signed.

I like to extend the acknowledgement to other traditional owners in Australia, Latin America and other parts of the world.
