“Nature” is how we say it here
in Wurundjeri Country.
Nature is around us. We are nature.
Those trees are nature. We sense, touch, smell,
taste, hear, feel, anoint nature.
Deep down, primordial. We are submerged,
breathing, gulping, absorbing, drowning,
we cannot be taken out, separated,
extracted or divided.
Nature is within and outside of us.
Extend and dig deep down. Connect
Disconnect, let go, let go.
The grass is greener in the shade,
under the canopy of the ancient trees.
The air is full of bird songs, transparent
voices of children playing.
It’s a cool south wind coming all the way
from the southern ocean
to the sacred Wurundjeri land,
land of eagles.
