Shoreline

Updated: Oct 6, 2024

The ripples of an ancient shoreline

exposed by water, wind and time

rock shades of red, pinks and greys

deep contrast with the trees

and the luminous sky blue

clear water flowing over polished stones

like the old people over the landscape

been here and there through deep time

through seasons, storms, drought

transformed by the snake dream

Kakadu NP.  July 2024

I acknowledge the traditional owners of the Kakadu national park lands, the Bininj and the Mungguy and its leaders past and present. Sovereignty has never been ceded. Like millions of Australians I accept the Uluru Statement of the Heart and support the Voice.

I’d like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people as the traditional owners and true sovereigns of the land where I live. I like to pay my respects to elders past and present. Sovereignty has not been ceded, treaties have not been signed.

I like to extend the acknowledgement to other traditional owners in Australia, Latin America and other parts of the world.
